Terms of Service

Rules for using Aviation DB, including free accounts and paid tracking subscriptions.

Last updated: September 8, 2026
1. About the service

Aviation DB (aviationdb.uk) is a hobbyist aviation database operated as a sole trader in the United Kingdom. The site indexes public flight-tracking and community aviation data so you can search aircraft, operators, and routes, and optionally log overhead sightings from a location you choose.

Data is provided for personal and educational use. We do not guarantee completeness, accuracy, or real-time availability of any feed or record.

2. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or delete accounts that breach these terms or our Privacy Policy.

Free Verified accounts include limited API access after email confirmation. Active paid tracking plans add overhead logging, personal history retention, email digests, and related features as described on the Pricing page. Verified and Active are separate account states.

3. Paid subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe after you verify your email on the Pricing page. Prices are shown in GBP and include VAT where applicable. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled.

Payment details are processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.

Cancellation

You may cancel at any time from the Stripe Customer Portal (Account → Billing → Manage billing). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period: you keep access until that date, then your plan reverts according to our retention rules.

Refunds

Because the service delivers digital access immediately, subscriptions are generally non-refundable once a billing period has started. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 14 days via the Contact form and we will review your case in good faith.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, bulk-download, or resell site data beyond your API plan limits
  • Attempt to bypass authentication, rate limits, or security controls
  • Use the service for unlawful surveillance, harassment, or safety-critical operations
  • Upload malware, spam webhooks, or abusive content through community or notification features

API keys and webhook URLs must not be shared publicly. We may revoke keys or disable webhooks that cause abuse or repeated delivery failures.

5. Data retention

Personal sighting history is kept for the number of days included in your active paid plan (30, 90, 180, or 365 days of tracking history). Older rows are purged automatically. The global aircraft and route database is retained separately and is not your personal export.

You may delete your tracking data or request account deletion as described in the Privacy Policy. Community feed contributions are optional and can be disabled in Account → Profile.

6. Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the site, missed alerts, inaccurate positions, or third-party API outages.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or other rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

7. Changes and contact

We may update these terms or pricing with reasonable notice where practicable. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material billing changes will be reflected on the pricing page.

Questions: use the Contact form or write to the operator at the address given on that page.
